The Honky Tonk Pounders

For the 25th anniversary of the band, the Pounders let it rip again! Since 1996, the trio has been on the road with its very own mix of rock and roll & rockabilly.

For their passionate and sweaty performances, the Siegerländer are known far beyond the borders of their homeland. The whole American Roots palette is served, from Prison Songs, Swamp Blues, True Country, Full-Time-Shuffle-Jive to dust-dry Boppers - of course always packed in the Pounders-typical sound.

But the roots of the Honky Tonk Pounders go back a bit longer. In 1985 Gunnar Fick and Hartmut Oderbein founded the "Ringlets Trio". The two teenagers knew each other from school and both had a preference for 50`s Rock and Roll.

Gunnar played the bass and Hartmut the drums. With Jens Pinkernell a congenial guitarist was found. It began a rapid and also quite successful journey of the three very young musicians, which ended after seven albums and several reshuffles in 2010.

In 2016 Hartmut replaced the longtime drummer of the Pounders, Gabriel Prokscha. After more than twenty years of abstinence, he sits down behind his drums as if nothing had happened and gets going. Due to his enthusiasm, both as a person and as a drummer, the change was a fresh cell cure for the band. Now he forms the rhythm section of the Pounders with Marco Marquardt. The powerful double bass playing and the precision in timing and musicality is the basis for the sound of the trio.
